I'm not an expert in nutrition. Though I've had a bit of training, and find it really fascinating. If you're really considering a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, consider grabbing these books that can offer advice and address questions you might have on any nutritional info.

The more research you do, the more you'll find that we've sort of been indoctrinated to believe that people that eat a plant based diet will be deficient in certain nutrients - especially iron and calcium. Not the case. And the experts back it up. As long as you're eating a well balanced, plant based diet that doesn't include a lot of processed foods - you're golden. You can even find out some really cool stuff, like, a bowl of chickpeas has twice the calcium as a glass of milk. Wha??! Yes. It's true...

Here's where to start:

The China Study. by T. Colin Campbell, Thomas M. Campbell. This book will rock your world. It's totally chock full of scientific data, statistics, research studies and such. Be prepared to have a lot of the ideas you may have held up until now totally changed.

The Kind Diet. by Alicia Silverstone And she doesn't mean diet as in, " a temporary form of torture that I inflict on myself in order to lost weight." More like, " the way I eat." She offers great info on starting out and transitioning to a vegan diet. Lots of nutrition info, too! I loved the encouragement that she offered throughout...
